1) Turkey To Join BRICS

To understand the shifting sands of global power with regard to the rise of BRICS you can search this site or look for the tag "BRICS" going back several years.  The last post I made on this topic reflected some dramatic changes and is essential reading since the implications are tremendous and must be appreciated for what they are.

The inclusion of Turkey is just as significant, not for economic reasons but for geographical and military reasons.  Turkey has the second largest standing army in NATO after the US and houses some of the US nuclear weapons.  Turkey has been a NATO anchor and its trusted role regarding strategic weapons positioning has always been a factor since the drama of the Cuban missile crises where Turkey played a major role.   Since the defeat of NATO in the Ukraine proxy war in which the West has been waging against Russia, many have predicted the beginning of the end of the trans-Atlantic alliance, and this move surely signals that this is a reality that the next decade may present.  Furthermore, the potential for Turkey to host future Russian oil pipelines also gets a boost if European demand ever returns to Russia and soon the nation could be holding the EU hostage with its finger on both energy and refugee flow providing tremendous geopolitical leverage.

In terms of geopolitics there has been transformational change coming so quickly that it's difficult to assess the full implications, but once the dust settles, we will be very cognoscente of the fact that the Anglo-American dominated international climate is a totally different place where nothing is the way it used to be. The emerging powers of BRICS, lead by Russia, China, India and a host of new additions are determined to change the flavor of the "Rules Based Order"(a euphemism for US hegemony characterized by bullying, lies and a general lack of respect for the sovereignty of nations and the wellbeing of their citizens).  So far, the evidence shows that nations of the Global South and Middle East consider the diplomacy, basic manners and respects shown by the new power center to be a far more appealing option.

2) The Demise of the Petrodollar

In the next few days, the Petrodollar is up for renewal by the Saudis.  All signs point towards them not renewing it.  Here Here is a quick outline of the Petrodollar nuts and bolts along with a great little synopsis of its history. The reasons in their entirety are complex but simply put Saudi Arabia has moved into the BRICS sphere of influence and faced with the rise of other currencies being used for foreign trade it makes no sense to tie into one currency and only sell in USD.  Also, China has a 1.4 billion population, its growth prospects are tremendous, as are Indias.  Russia and Saudi Arabia can also work together to corner the global oil market, making OPEC somewhat redundant, and Russia has already stepped out of the dollar system, the nation has pioneered an oil for gold and oil for Rubles program using its own hydrocarbon reserves to protect its economy from US sanctions. The drop in dollar demand is going to impact hugely on the US economy and affect the ability of the Anglo-American establishment to export inflation through the oil price in USD to the Global South.  Strap yourself in, we could be in for a bumpy ride!

With Covid suddenly disappearing from the headlines, it's been interesting reading the perspectives of varying merit on social media. We will Segway back to Covid briefly at the end but let's take a look at the justification of these perspectives and reconcile which of them have been consistent in gaining understanding of why things have played out the way they have and whether anyone should be surprised.

Those perspectives are without doubt swayed by the absolute nonsense narrative of the MSM featuring their usual patronising "Good vs Evil" narrative. Features of this clown show which can scarcely be believed include journalists suggesting that Russia's main objective is Kiev (which makes no sense) and ridiculous casualties on the Russian side.  This same presstitute express only silence on the Russian primary goal which is no doubt the Lugansk and Donetsk areas.

One of those perspectives I didn't mind included this epic rant from George Galloway where he covers everything from hypocrisy to the startling biomedical labs the US was funding in Ukraine, as Putin had claimed. (Below)

I am, however, curious about the basis of some conclusions which (like good doggies  barking for their biscuit have been overwhelmingly adopting the #BlamePutin position. Do you think it is reasonable to wonder about whether in making those conclusions a person knows about the history of Putin in his the Yeltsin years, as the darling of the West. It was the West who all along wanted a sober version of Yeltsin in power.  Putin was very helpful and and friendly to the West before his struggles with NATO expansion. How many understand what changed his outlook before and after the WEF young leaders program during the 80s, or his perspective before being vetted by Bill Clinton, George Soros and Boris Yeltsin and his perspective during the neoliberal capital finance plunder of former Soviet republics which he feels he regrettably aided and must atone for. How many know the extremes he has gone to in his efforts to hold NATO to their promises made to Gorbachev, Yesltzin, Medvedev and Putin himself? I'd put forward that he has demonstrated far too much restraint already. 

What of Putin's turnaround of Russia from near collapse to bring Russian average household yearly incomes up from $800 per year to $30 000? That is something no "Make America Great Again" campaign will ever touch. This while under crippling sanctions.  Regularly, his thwarting of the internationalist order by dedollarising Russia and reducing its US Treasury bond holdings wasn't popular in bankster circles. He was also behind building up her gold reserves to buy value rather than debt (represented by US treasury bonds: especially traded in a rigged market. By turning Russias deficit into a surplus, Putin put the Federation in an elite club of around 10 nations without any real sovereign debt to speak of, depending on how you slice the role central bank debt. Nations without any sovereign debt to speak of usually involve an entire debt spread. Even still, overall with mixed debt, even under years of sanctions, Russia's debt spread looks good.

Mmmm? Just wait until Hunter Biden eventually gets linked to those biolabs...

The capital finance globalist banksters have not done damage they hoped for. Neither has the Permanent Security State ("Deep State"). Putin's  liberation of Syria from US, Saudi, Turkish, Israeli, Qatari and Kurdish supported regime change crime was epic and brought the nation back from the precipice of doom. The paramilitary units parading as rebels were covered by Western MSM as "moderate rebels" instead of terrorists. Russia smoked by them out when she rolled into Syria (search "Syria"tag on drop down menu on top-right of screen). It was a turning point in their quest in securing financial and military hegemony. By  preventing Syria from being another Libya and Crimea another Ukraine Putin indicated he was no longer prepared to stand by and fail in his most fundamental task as president, secure national borders.

If you were among those adopting a critical position, are you aware of the overt pain he has inflicted on the blue and white flag neoliberal globalist world order? Are you aware of his banning of arch globalist George Soros (very busy in the US too) activities inside Russia, and of his efforts since 2014 to halt the Genocide in Donbass? Or his efforts to implement the Minsk agreement? The death toll of Russian speaking Slavs, Jews and Muslims (at the hands of a largely neo-Nazi military) in the east is approaching 15000. Russia has sent aid and arranged several emergency evacuations for those victims due to historical ties to Russia.

If you do know this,  please reconcile this resume with your assertion. If you contest these claims please state which and why, I would very much like to hear such a case being made.

If you don't want the details to bog you down and simply believe war causes death and you support the Ukrainian people then reconcile this with your support of the innocent:

Zelezny could end the war TODAY by agreeing to stop the genocide in the east and stick to the Minsk agreement of 2015  by remaining neutral and not joining NATO allowing Javelin & Stinger missiles to be moved to Russian borders pointed at Moscow. It was in fact Russian Intel's information of a large Ukraine army gathering for a final cleanup of the seperatists Donbass Republics that actually galvanised Putin into action. Dont underestimate the importance of that.

Clearly words have lost all meaning in US diplomacy. As a result things are not getting better for the US Imperial war machine and their Desert Storm Troopers in Iraq following the illegal assasination of General Soleimani on January 3rd. 

Iraq has just witnessed the largest civil uprising in its history, demanding the US get thrown out and burning US flags. U.S. forces have committed serious crimes in Iraq: according to Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi, the US Ambassador in Baghdad informed him of Israel’s responsibility for the five attacks against Iraqi security forces in mid-2019 and the drone assassination of a security force commander on the Syrian-Iraqi borders. These Israeli attacks were carried out with the knowledge and permission of US forces in Iraq, who allowed Israel to violate Iraqi air space and kill its security members. That attack made the US – who maintain control over Iraqi air space – an accomplice of Israel in attacking the US host country, Iraq.

In December 2019, the Trump administration committed another crime, disregarding the Iraqi government and killing more Iraqis intentionally and without any legal basis. US jets attacked Iraqi forces’ positions on the borders with Syria, killing and wounding 79 officers and members of the Iraqi Army, the Federal Police and the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) brigades 45 and 46. The US singled out an encampment of the Iraqi Security Forces, who are based on the borders to hunt down ISIS militants moving through the Syrian-Iraqi deserts.

These forces are under the direct command of Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi. The US accused Iraqi soldiers at this encampment of attacking its K1 base 540 km away. The US had no proof that the dozens of officers its Air Forces killed in its subsequent bombing attack had been behind the killing of an Iraqi born US contractor at the K1 base.  The US even refused to provide any evidence of this when requested to do so by the Iraqi Prime Minister prior to the attack.

Thus, already in 2019, the terms of the US mandate in Iraq had been violated. Then the US very recently committed another crime against Iraq by assassinating an Iraqi commander, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandes and three Iraqi officers at Baghdad airport. It further showed its contempt for international law by assassinating an Iranian Major General, Sardar Qassem Soleimani, and four Iranian officers (Brigadier General Hossein PourJafari, Colonel Shahroud Mozaffarinia, Major Hadi Taremi, and Captain Vahid Zamanian) even though the US had not declared war on Iran. Trump boasted provocatively about the assassination, bragging about “killing two for the price of one”.

Further evidence of US contempt for diplomatic protocol was provided by Prime Minister Abdel Mahdi, when he declared that President Trump had phoned him to ask his mediation to de-escalate tension with Iran. Abdel Mahdi said that “Soleimani arrived in Iraq at my request to receive a response from Saudi Arabia to Iran’s peace initiative. Trump killed a foreign officer on a territory he is supposed to protect and an envoy of peace who landed at the request of the Prime Minister”. But that is not all: it was public knowledge, as announced by Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari (11 June 2016), that Soleimani enjoys immunity in Iraq as an advisor – at the official request of Iraq – to fight ISIS.

It is inaccurate to say “Soleimani was plotting against US citizens just as he had done for years”. President Trump and his administration provided no evidence for such a claim. warmongering politicians and academics recall only the US occupation of Iraq and the support of Soleimani for the Iraqi resistance, accusing Soleimani of “having the blood of US soldiers on his hands during the US military occupation of Iraq”.

However, “the Security Council has not explicitly condemned attacks upon coalition forces—that would undercut the inherent right of self-defence against foreign invasion and occupation.” It is argued that “the invasion of Iraq was an illegal act (war)of aggression, and that those responsible for it are war criminals” (Mandel, 2004: McGoldrick, 2004).

Therefore, armed resistance against the occupation forces in Iraq at that time was entirely legitimate. The response of resistance, and its consequences for the US-led occupation forces, who in 2003 acknowledged their status as an occupation force, cannot be called an act of terrorism. Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani cannot be responsible for crimes against an occupier who never found the “Weapons of Mass Destruction” that it had used as a pretext for invasion. The US invaded Iraq with no legal basis, causing mass destruction to the Iraqi population and the country’s infrastructure, killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.

We have now learned from the horse’s mouth why Trump killed Soleimani: the Iranian Major General was “saying bad things” about the US. “How much of this shit do we have to listen to? How much are we going to listen to?” Trump told his donors.

The US continues to allow Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu to violate Iraqi airspace by permitting Israeli jets to bomb Syria from the Iraqi-Syrian borders occupied by the US forces at al-Tanf. Officials in Baghdad said “the US forces have no respect for their agreement with Iraq. For some time now, they have been behaving like an occupation force. This is not the first time this has happened. We inform Syria about it every time this takes place”.

The many crimes committed by the US in the Middle East, its violations of international law, and Iraqi sovereignty, in particular, did not begin with President Trump. But Trump and his team took things to a new level in 2018 when he renounced the nuclear deal known as the JCPOA that is part of UNSC resolution 2231. He didn’t like it because it was “ Barack Obama’s agreement”. Trump thus made the Middle East even more unstable and has brought the region to the brink of war. As he insists on keeping US forces in Iraq, he will one day soon have to explain to Americans why in the face of local resistance to the US occupation US soldiers are dying.

The Links Between Turkey, The US, ISIS & Syria

Something Very Interesting Is Happening In Turkey.

I am no fan of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, never have been, but that does not mean I do not hold his ability as an international diplomat and strategist in high regard.  He is a ruthless and wily opponent if ever there is one, and this means that in the face of a coup like we saw this week any number possibilities should be considered.  But lets look at what we do know, and a picture begins to emerge.

First and foremost, we need to get one thing immediately clear. Turkey has been a major strategic ally of Washington and provided the geographical and logistical cover not only for Washington's rebels in their "Assad must go" regime change push (which they disguise as a civil war) but also for ISIS and have been heavily complicit in the illegal ISIS oild trade among other things.  Secondly, the war in Syria is the preeminent strategic military operation in the globe at the moment and absolutely NOTHING goes down without Washington either orchestrating it or giving it their green light, especially something like a Military coup of a major NATO partner that houses over 70 US nuclear warheads.  Let's not be naive here, to suggest Washington is not at some level aware or complicit, or to rule out that possibility would be poor detective work.  This is an angle I suggest we watch closely in the coming weeks.

Next lets look at the timing. Recently Erdogan sent something that could loosely be considered an apology for the downing of the Russian jet that saw a frosting over of Russian/Turkish relations.  The US does not like this fact. The prime reason for NATO's very survival right now is for Russia to be painted as a villain (which is sick considering Russia's valiant efforts at fighting terrorism of late).  The US military and intelligence community certainly do not approve of the thawing of Erdogans resolve in Syria either, or recent Turkish/Israeli/Russian gas industry related dealings involving Gazprom, or the way the Iran deal has been progressing (at least factions in the US have not been happy about it).  I think the timing here is also very interesting. I am well aware of the circumstantial nature of the last two factors but stick with me here, we are building a picture, framing a case & looking for direction to avoid the MSM smoke-screening that will characterize the coverage of this event going forward.

And what of Fethullah Gulen, who Erdogan has personally accused of being behind things?  He is holed up in self-imposed exile in the US, if the US is complicit he would be the ideal candidate for the sort of puppet regime the US would want in the region, the sort that characterizes the true nature of a US "Strategic Partner" or better put, ...Puppet regime.  Regime change by coup, like in the Ukraine and being attempted in Syria is the standard MO (if not soft power grabs or military invasion) of the US when shopping for partners.

One other interesting possibility that should be taken seriously is the possibility of Erdogan playing a role in the staging of the coup itself, but further evidence would be needed here:

I think there there are some very interesting factors to consider in our assessment of the situation, and there is a broader game afoot, keep an open mind but also try justifiable suspicious prejudice against US empire building. Somewhere in the middle we will find our solution.
