While alchemists often understood chrysopoeia as a metaphor for a mystical, or religious process, some practitioners adopted a literal interpretation, and tried to make gold through physical experiment. The impossibility of the metallic transmutation had been debated amongst alchemists, philosophers and scientists since the Middle Ages. There are some noted names in the history of science that were in some or other way seduced by the charms of alchemy, most notably Isaac Newton. These days the role of alchemy in the scientific landscape is practically nonexistent and its been relegated for other uses and seeks to distance itself from the quest for the philosophers stone.
The story with biological transmutation is another story entirely, and in some cases transmutation was effectively proven beyond reasonable doubt, but failure to explain how this came to be meant that the results failed get the fanfare one would expect. The origins go as far back as 1634.
Jan Baptist van Helmont was actually arrested by agents of the Spanish Inquisition for the crime of studying plants and other phenomena. While under house arrest, he started to consider how plants grew. The prevailing theory at the time was that plants grew by eating soil, and van Helmont devised a clever investigation to test this idea.
He weighed a willow tree and weighed dry soil. He planted the tree, watered it and then left it for 5 years. He then re-weighed the tree, which had increased in mass by over 12 stone. He dried the soil and weighed it, showing that the soil was almost the same mass.
This may not prove transmutation but it was the first experiment to show that from water, trace minerals and air plants could make all the material for growth.

Corentin Louis Kervran (3 March 1901 – 2 February 1983)
Kervran was a renowned French scientist. He received a degree as an engineer in 1925. In World War II he was part of the French Resistance.
Kervran proposed that nuclear transmutation occurs in living organisms, which he called "biological transmutation".[3] He made this claim after doing an experiment with chickens where they were generating calcium in their egg shells while there was no calcium in their food or soil. He had no known scientific explanation for it. Such transmutations are not possible according to mainstream physics, chemistry and biology. Proponents of biological transmutations fall outside mainstream physics and are not part of the scientific discourse even though nobody was able to find flaw with his results.
Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (LENR) are a controversial topic at Mitsubishi, constantly gaining and losing the advantage over detractors, it appears there is something to pursue and this space should be watched.
The SAFIRE Project started as a proof of concept designed to test the Electric Sun model, with resounding success. It picked up large amounts of funding since then after it was found to generate power USING nuclear waste and creating harmless byproduct. Even if it's efficiency doesn't improve, remediation of nuclear waste is itself a trillion dollar industry. There was another finding of interest.
In the plasma reactor the anode was analysed with EDAX after an energy producing run. The next two images highlight the elements that were not present at the beginning of the run.

Additional evidence for transmutation comes from optical spectroscopy. For reference, below is the spectrum from a discharge not encouraging transmutation - showing primarily the Hydrogen atmosphere.

The next figure shows the spectrum of the discharge around the anode during the energy-producing run, with three areas highlighted. Spectroscopy under complex conditions is as much an art as a science, since any one line can be assigned to more than one element and energy level. One of the unique signatures of the metal Manganese is the three triplets circled below. It is possible that instead of Manganese, we are seeing multiple other elements in just the right energy levels, but that is statistically extremely less likely than the presence of Manganese. The alloy used for the anode contained no Manganese. It is also notable that the relative intensities of the nine Manganese lines indicate up to 25eV energy states, considerably higher than the energy levels in the Hydrogen atmosphere.

Who is Wallace Thornhill? To succeed with fusion the SAFIRE team had to defacto finally reject the LAMBDA-CDM cosmological model, which incorporates the thermonuclear fusion model of the sun. THE ^CDM model which has been the biggest failure of any model in any scientific doscipline in the history of science, and thats INCLUDING the flopped climate change models such as the Hockey Stick Graph based "runaway catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming", a failure of note.

Suddenly we realize what a massive waste of time and energy it has all been, and how fast we are about to progress after dumping it. Theories and Models of Low Energy Nuclear Reactions
It is important to note that there is no accepted theory for the observed results in the SAFIRE chamber. This page presents several reasonable theories and models for nuclear transmutations and energy production. The SAFIRE team does not endorse or support any particular theory or model. We welcome proponents of theories to design experiments that will test the validity of their model.
For the sake of brevity, we will consider a physical "theory" and "model" to be interchangeable terms. Some rightly argue that a "theory" is very general and broadly encompassing, such as the theory that all atoms have a nucleus. In contrast, there might be several different "models" that could be constructed to embody a theory. There are currently more than a dozen different models for the nucleus, and these models are selected depending upon their usefulness in a given situation. As stated above, the SAFIRE team does not endorse or support any particular atomic theory or atomic model for what is happening inside the chamber, or inside other group's chambers. We focus on refining our process to achieve predictable results.
That being said, we present several theories for low energy transmutation and energy production. The reader can find much material on all these and other theories by searching scientific articles. This webpage is not intended to be a thorough review of the subject.
Slow Neutrons
The Widom-Larsen theory is based on weak interactions and are consistent with existing physics. The theory explains how nuclear reactions can occur at or near room temperature through the creation of ultra-low-momentum neutrons and subsequent neutron-capture processes. Such neutrons, according to the theory, have a very large DeBroglie wavelength and therefore have a huge capture cross-section, explaining why so few neutrons are detected. Many-body collective quantum and electromagnetic effects are fundamental to Widom and Larsen's explanation for the energy required to create neutrons in LENR cells. Crucially, such reaction-rate calculations are based not on few-body interactions but on many-body interactions.
Alexander Parkhomov has published extensive work on low energy transmutations. Although the results stand on their own without introducing any theories, Parkhomov's model of low energy neutrinos does make testable predictions. The model works on standard physics, with the requirement that the neutrinos be very low energy. Neutrinos are known to enter into nuclear reactions. In the formula below, (A,Z) is an element with proton number Z and atomic mass A. When an electron neutrino interacts with this atom, the proton number of the atom increases by one, and an electron is ejected from the nucleus.
Slow neutrinos can stimulate beta decay, which will raise the atomic number of the starting element by one, like Mn to Fe.
The other direction lowers the atomic number, like Fe to Mn.
Hydrinos
The Hydrino theory states that Hydrogen can exist in states that have lower energy than the traditionally believed ground state. Mr Mills has published ample experimental evidence supporting this theory. Mr Mills has also published ample experimental evidence that his reactions produce energy. Results. Energy production from short pulses of 1000 amp, 50V. Some tests ran for 60 days.
Theory: Hydrogen jumps to a “lower than ground state”, referred to as H(1/p), and gives the excess energy to create water. The excess energy goes into soft X-rays, UV, kinetic energy of the products.
The ΛCDM ( Lambda cold dark matter) or Lambda-CDM model is a parameterization of the Big Bang cosmological model in which the universe contains three major components: first, a cosmological constant denoted by Lambda ( Greek Λ) associated with dark energy; second, the postulated cold dark matter (abbreviated CDM ); and third, ordinary matter.
As the universe continues to expand over time, the negative pressure associated with the cosmological constant (the form of dark energy in ΛCDM) increasingly dominates over opposing gravitational forces, and the expansion of the universe accelerates. Contributed by the NASA / LAMBDA Archive Team.
This is surprising because, after our own Milky-Way and (possibly) Andromeda, this is the third case of such corotating satellite galaxies, a dynamic that is not favored at all by the best current cosmological model, \(\Lambda\)-CDM (Dark Energy and Cold Dark Matter) which predicts that less than 5 per 1000 galaxies should exhibit such behavior.
In ΛCDM, most of the Large Scale Structure in the universe is associated with cold dark matter. Dark matter is not easily detected, but its presence is inferred from gravitational effects such as lensing and galactic rotation curves.
